    I haven't done a side by side, but my dad has a 597 HB. In tests with it shooting different .22 ammo, we've gotten groups off the bench under 0.2" at 25 yards relatively consistently at 3 and 5 shots. The rifle might be able to do better, but that's as good as we are off of sandbag sort of rests.

    As others have said, there is no difference in recoil and even if there were it is little enough recoil to not particularly matter.

    It's a .22lr, there is almost no recoil, period.

    It is probably a hair (<1" @ 50 yards) more accurate if you ware shooting from the bench and with the heavy barrel accuracy will be more consistent because it doesn't get hot as fast.
