Sick Ornamental Trees?

The bark on my trees is covered in a white fungus. The trees have only a small section of leaves- the rest is bare. Can someone please tell me how to save these trees before they are completely dead or is it already too late.

    Pictures would help.

If the "white fungus is kind of grayish or bluish or greenish, it s probably lichen, which has absolutely nothing to do with what s happening to your tree.

If the "white fungus" either moves when you blow it or flick it, or oozes goop or liquid when you crush it, you have an insect issue (aphids or scale).

If it s lichen, then I ve got no idea why your tree is doing poorly - but it has NOTHING to do with the lichen.

Tell us what your tree is, and ideally, include pictures, and we might be able to narrow it down.
