'Marijuana Tourism' in Oregon?

Years ago I went to buy a bottle of rum at a govt.liquor store in Oregon. I had to show my driver's license and since it was out-of-state, I was questioned for about 10 minutes. How long are you staying in Oregon? Do you know anyone here in town? Do you have business here? etc.

Now I'm wondering how easy it is for an out-of-stater to buy pot in Oregon. Has anyone from California gone up there to buy some and bring it home? There must be some protections in force against that, but how would they stop you? Would they just refuse to sell it to anyone from out of state? Anyone have any direct experience?

Update:

I KNOW it's illegal! That's not my question. The question is:

1. Will they even sell it to someone from out of state?

and

2. Does anyone have any actual personal experience?

    Hey Mr. Smartypants,

As you know, I live in Colorado. Some dispensaries won't sell to people from out of state here.

However there are hotels which allow the usage of cannabis. If you have a friend who lives in Oregon, stay there for a little while.

Stuff is strong now. I have a high tolerance and only smoke an 1/8th a week...

Anyway, there are some shops that will let out of state tourists have only so much on them/purchase at a time. Usually a 1/4th or 1/8th. 5 grams is uncommon but it happens.

There are warnings "This product is illegal outside of colorado"

as such, the same rules apply to Oregon cannabis.

I hope this answers your questions. six month old question but from experience and friends from out of state that came to visit, this has been critical to resolving your query.

"Has anyone from California gone up there to buy some and bring it home?" - That would be violating both California law and Federal law. The Feds are letting this issue be for now, but that goes so far as to obeying the state laws created. Taking it out of state makes it Federal jurisdiction, and if they wanted to, they could get involved. But most likely, California would be the only one handling it unless you bring a huge amount across state lines.

It's ONLY legal within the state, and even taking it to Washington or Colorado (where it is also legal) is a crime.
