Was This Appropriate Of The Parents?

The 4th fireworks had ended and before the band resumed they made the announcement "There is a little girl lost named (insert name), your parents are waiting for you at the ferris wheel."

She's not a 'little girl', she's 13. Her name is not common like 'Sue Smith'. This is a small town where everybody knows each other.

I think that was uncalled for to humiliate her like that in front of the entire town.

What do you think.

I think it depends on the situation like she could've not been answering her phone and her parents were worried about her even if it's a small town. Also her phone or her parents phone could had died and they needed to go home. Like it just depends.

I don't think anyone was trying to embarrass anyone here. The parents were expecting the girl to meet them at a specific time; or the girl had strayed from her family; and they were just looking to find her. It is good that everyone met up!

We cannot be too careful today. If I expected my child/grandchild to meet me at 7:00 & it was 7:15...I would worry. There are just too many bad guys out there! I would definitely put out an APB on the loudspeaker!

Better to report that the person is missing right away than several hours later! Or should the parents just have waited 24 hours to report the child missing!?!

A child did her thing and the parents, did theirs. If the child didn't want the attention, then she should have stayed close to the parents and did what they told her to. It is very simple, a child's action lead to her humiliation. Nothing more, nothing less, and yes. A 13 year old is still a child in some areas. A 13 year old should be treated as they act. If more mature and trustworthy, more freedoms. Act like a child and get treated like one

I don't think any of you are getting this. She is NOT a little girl, she's 13. The parents were standing there, arms folded with scowls on their faces, even the little sister had the same expression.

The announcement could have been "Will Susie Smith meet her family at the ferris wheel?" I'm pretty sure she 'got it' when they got home. She probably met some friends, forgot what time it was and couldn't find her way through the crowd in the dark.

If they expected her to meet them at a set time, its appropriate

I agree with your thesis, I disagree with your opinion. Safety is always key, regardless of age.

That's not humiliation...that's trying to be a good person and ensure that the daughter was safe.
