Can I change my daughter's last name to mine? I'm her mother?

I live in Houston tx anyway my daughter has her father's last name but he's not on the birth certificate or anything and he s not in our lives I was wondering can I change her last name to mine without him

    You can, but not via Yahoo. Department of internal affairs, or similar. Where you register births and deaths.

    It takes a court order to change her name.

    No. You would need his permission and, not being listed on the birth certificate means nothing.

    You can probably do that online. Or a super legal way to do that, is probably down at your town, or city hall.
