Trinitarians: Why do you believe the trinity when...?

Jesus and Jehovah are, obviously, two separate beings (1 Corinthians 2:16); Jesus does not know what Jehovah knows (Matthew 24:36); Jesus had to learn obedience (Hebrews 5:8); Jesus has to give back his kingship to Jehovah after death is done away with 1 Corinthians 15:24-28)?

The trinity are three distinct attributes of the same being. What is unique about God is these attributes have taken up personalities which make them ontologically equal yet functionally subordinate. This is something that is difficult for some people to understand because the concept of an attribute taking up personality is not something experienced by humans.

Of course I probably would not be classified as a trinitarian in that I reject certain assertions made by the Doctrine of the Trinity and limit my acceptance to the concept to that which is found in scripture.

The "trinity" was not a common belief until a few centuries after Jesus died.

Maybe common isn't the right word...but before that it wasn't heretical to not believe in the trinity.

Does the Bible ever talk about god as a "triune God"? No. I think there are verses that are open to interpretation though, just like the rest of the Bible.

Do I think it matters that much?

No. Why are you asking this question? Do you think trinitarian's relationship with God is somehow "lesser" because of what they believe? Just let it go.

    hi there

    I just believe scripture.

I searched every scripture describing who god is, categorised them according to what they say, posted them here, and jws jumped up and down telling me it is a trinity doctrine.

why don't you believe all of scripture?

    see what you did there?

for instance, john 20:28 identifies yeshua as god.

but you have posted verses and seem to imply that they cancel the ones saying yeshua is god. is that what you're saying? jws never explain what is happening when they post such verses.

Christians believe all scripture is true.

we have no reason to believe the watchtowers unexplained cancellation method. especially when they cannot substantiate their own fds doctrine and it is easily proven to be a lie. so why believe liars. listen to scripture instead.

There is one God in threefold distinction. The Divine nature is complex as our human nature is. And there are three ways of thinking about God, corresponding to the being of God, ways which are not only true but essential, so that if we are to think of God aright we must think of Him in all these three ways: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit -- it is called the Trinity!

Jesus was fully God and fully human. The problem is some folks like to focus on the verses that point to Jesus being human but ignore, gloss over, or alter the verses that clearly show His divinity. Jesus claimed to be God hence the reason He was crucified. If Jesus was not God He had plenty of opportunity to refute those who worshiped Him and those who tried to stone Him and those who crucified Him. But He didnt because "before Abraham was I AM."

Jesus, The father and the holy spirit are 3 different beings that make up God. Its like if a man marry's his wife they both become 1 but their still 2 people physically.

"In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was WITH God, and the Word WAS God ... And the Word became flesh." ~John 1:1-17

That supersedes anything else you may have to say without calling God a liar!

As a flesh person, Jesus was NOT God, obviously. But prior to coming to earth, He eternally co-existed WITH God, AS God.

If you don't like what the Bible says, do like the jw's do and throw away the Bible, and make your own if you don't like what God's word has to say! But don't expect God to honor your satanic trash when you stand before Him on your own personal day of Judgment!

Have you ever read the first chapter of Johns gospel? I am not a Christian anymore but it is clear to see the Jesus is God. The bible that JWs read has been tampered with, try reading the St James version.
