what do you prefer a cat or a dog and why?

Cats, but I also love dogs. Cats can be picked up and held, and they are lower maintenance pets.

Cats, although I've owned both all of my life. I prefer cats because they prefer to be left to get on with their business. Dogs demand so much attention and exercise. I'm not a very active person myself (although I can be when I have to be) and I don't really like having a dog shove his nose in my face every two minutes, which is what my newest dog - a Labrador - does.

I'm definitely a cat person at heart.
