New puppy is so tiring!?

My husband & I adopted a puppy for his birthday on August 8, 2015. I had grew up as child around adult dogs. This is our first time owning a puppy. It's so tiring. I love her so much & give never give her up. It's like having a toddler mess your house all day. They need so much attention. I spend a lot of time with her & so does husband. Potty trained is tiring. Also she gets into everything & whines when she doesn't get her way. We didn't have a crate or playpen so we put her in a box to sleep. She whined all night. My husband said just put her in the bed. So I picked her up. The problem is she hogs our pillows & like to play at night. Constantly getting up to take her to potty is tiring. I don't get as much sleep. We had an active sex life before we got our puppy. We tried putting on the floor or in the restroom & she goes crazy while trying to have sex. Last week we had sex only 5 minutes because she acted out when we weren't around. Last night my husband was put on the floor she was quiet. We finally were able to enjoy intimacy without worrying about the dog. We have sex least 3 times a week. I realized how much I miss our sex lifestyle last night. By the end she was whining to get back on the bed. She never likes to play alone & it's hard when have small things to do around the house. I'm always running after her. The whining never stops. I love her I'm just exhausted. Any tips or advice appreciated.

Yeah, welcome to having a dog. It is literally like having a two year old. Particularly a puppy. You kind of just have to deal with it. If you want to keep your dog occupied for a while so you two can get some alone time, try a toy or a bone to stimulate her mentally so she'll leave you alone for a while. We got our dog a big beef bone from Petco and he stayed occupied for about three hours. Granted he's a fatty and will do anything for food, but it may help.

I take it you have no children or the dog would be in with them. SO... I can't use that as an example.

Just look at it this way. In no time puppy stage will be over. Meantime, hire a neighbor kid to walk the puppy and play with him at a local park. The kid and puppy will be thrilled, you'll get some time to yourself, and the puppy will be exhausted and sleep all night.

Sure. Buy a crate, learn how to crate train correctly.

Buy a good book or two on training young puppies - anything by Ian Dunbar would be a good choice.

Don't know what you expected. Of course puppies are a lot of work. Housetraining, when done correctly, is very time-consuming, but its done within 2 weeks. And they don't care about your sex life any more than anyone here does.

So are babies, it was your bright idea to do that so suck it up and deal and you wouldn't get to get it on if you had a newborn baby either because you'd be too tired from caring for them so stop whining.
