Fully clean the drive?

I bought a Msi laptop, been a problem starting it up. If I fully clean the drive will I need a key code or anything or will I be ok?

    If you format the drive and have Windows, you will need a Windows OS disk to re-install your Windows version and you will need the Windows Key. You can install it without the Key but it won't work long or correctly. Also make sure that the disk is for that computer or you may wind up looking all over for drivers and other things.

    You`ll need the windows key - if you dont have one you can get win7 pro on ebay for about $60
