How to ask for a specific salary in an interview?

I have an interview and the salary is between 15100 - 16700

I presume if succesful they would offer me the minimum. Im already on 15000 and wanted more. How do I go about saying I'd like it to start around the 16 mark

    Hello

You ask the question directly. And include how long would they expect before I got a pay rise? Unfortunately at the lowest you would still be getting a pay rise? You could broach the subject by saying that you are currently on 15K and one of the reasons for wanting to change jobs is for better wages/conditions

This salary negotiation guide from the career and salary research site called PayScale will help you with the salary negotiation process starting from salary market research to actual negotiation, http://bitly.com/1yI0j5g .

Just ask for market rate. If they don't offer enough that's that's when you begin negotiation. Turn the offer down and say what it will take to get you to accept. It's easier to negotiate for more with an offer in your hand.

"I'd expect a candidate of my caliber to start at $16K." Not a wishy-washy, "around the mark." $16K.
