Jesus had a certain way he folded it and his followers knew he folded it when they saw it.

Most students of the Bible understand this folded cloth to indicate that the scene in the empty tomb was evidence of a very calm and orderly process, rather than that of a burglarized tomb, from which the body of Jesus was hastily stolen -- from a sealed tomb, guarded by soldiers. However, it was the custom in those days to fold linens after their use, whether that be napkins, garments, sheets, or burial garb.

A disciple (John) looked inside the tomb and believed. So what did he see. 1. If someone had stolen the body they would not have undressed the body.

    2. If someone had taken the body it would be done quickly and the grave clothes would be scattered.

    3. If the Burial clothes were folded this meant it was not done in a rush there was plenty of time and Jesus had risen from the dead

    Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition.

When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it..

The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now, if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.

The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'.

But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table,

    because........... The folded napkin meant,

    'I'm coming back!'

    HE'S COMING BACK!!!!

He wasn't a messy guy, I guess. Do you just leave all your clothes scattered over the floor when you change? Jesus didn't have a wife to pick up after Him, remember?

He didn't. The angels who rolled away the stone caused Jesus' body to disappear through his burial clothing.

Jesus' earthly body did not rise from the tomb; angels rolled away the stone and disposed of it as with Moses. Jesus appeared in The Christ body to satisfy our demand for proof he was from God. Peter, who was with Christ, and Jesus, on the MT. of Transfiguration, understood this but was advised not to reveal it.

However, The Christ body did meet with his followers, both in Galilee then lastly in Jerusalem on 18May30A.D.

a folded napkin is a sign that there will be a return , a crushed napkin means "I have finished." this is standard procedure in the homes of royalty and celebrities , it is a message to waiters and servants standing nearby
