Buying first video card?
Suppose I had a computer with no graphics card, and I was going to buy my first one. Suppose there was a proper name brand 750 watt power supply in it. I do not play any games. I use the computer for surfing the web, looking at fine text (which I want very sharp) and pictures, watching movies and videos (some at high definition). The screen is 1920 X 1080p. What graphics card would you suggest?
Thank you, ~Cindy! :)

Hi Cindy, your computer will likely do what you listed right now, without an extra graphics card. If the back of it has video outs, you are fine.
Assuming you need a graphics card, any cheap one will do what you described just fine, even one that's a few years old on craigslist for $10. Amazon, Fry's, Best buy will all have low end graphics cards that will do what you need starting at around $20 or $30.

The best thing you could do is to find out what the internals of your computer are - Motherboard, Hard Drive, CPU etc then go to a proper Computer store, preferable one that makes its own computers and seek their advice as to the best graphics card you can put in it. Try sticking any old graphics card in, is just a waste of time and money

a nividia quadro card is good for editing video. the gforce are for gaming the difference
is the need to render video vs the need to display it.
the gaming card displays it better the workstation renders it quicker.
either will work for you.
but i think since you don't play games and like video you should look for the quadro card there are some inexpensive quadro cards on ebay . The workstation cards can be more expensive than the gaming cards.

If you don't play modern games, the integrated graphics will be enough for your needs.
If you want to play today's games then you should get atleast a GTX 750 TI.

none.
modern day integrated graphics are more then enough for 4k video playback. Even if its 24bit and hi10P, its more then enough.
So any modern cpu with any modern integrated graphics are more then enough for your needs. Something like a pentium is enough.
