American Christians, is the Protestant work ethic getting in the way of making 30 hour weekdays the norm.?

Potentially it could resolve unemployment issues in the States..

Is there a specific number of hours people are supposed to be working each week? I've done jobs where I've worked 70 hour weeks, and jobs where I've worked 20 hours a month. I always just figured you work as much as you like until you have as much money to do what you want to do.

Typically, only nurses work 30-hour days, but they also work weekends and not just weekdays.

It works in France as nobody does more than 35 hours there. Here in England we are like you, one person works 60, 70 hours or more sometimes, that could be split into two jobs.

Please explain how reducing the number of hours worked in a week would resolve unemployment issues. And how would people make up the money lost to them with those 10 hours a week?

That is why the productivity of the American worker is so much better than in most of Europe. Also why the Euro and the pound is in the toilet.

I doubt it would have much of an impact. Folks would need to work 2 jobs to maintain their current income.
