Solutions for a dual monitor desktop system.?

My desktop went up in smoke this morning so I need to find a new one. Unfortunately most off the shelf models do not seem to have support for dual monitors.

Any input on what the most affordable route is to get a dual monitor system. I know that many off the shelf systems do not have a large enough power supply to power dual graphic cards or cards with dual monitors.

What about external monitor adapters?

Depends what you are using this for. For the most part you can buy a cheap newer video card and run two monitors off of it without any problems. The NVidia 750 ti is also an option because it is a mid-level low power gamer's graphics card that only uses 65 watts. Depending on what brand/model you get one 750 ti will support up to 4 monitors and work on systems with 350 watt power supplies without problems.

For the most part an add-on video card can run as many monitors at once that it has ports for. The rules are a little more fuzzy for built in video components on a motherboard. You just need monitors with digital ports and the correct adapters for the ports on either side. There is usually support for no more than one analog port on a video card that can run 4 monitors.
