Is meat cooked with onion bad for cats?

My mom wants to give the cat a piece of meat that was cooked with onions. I told her onions are bad for cats, but is residue on the meat enough to hurt a cat? I'm gonna tell her not to give the cat the meat but I'm curious.

Just throw the meat away for god's sake, onions will upset a cat's stomach.

No, the residue won't hurt her. Let her have the meat. It's very good for her.

the residue should not be enough to hurt your cat. but you are right, onions can kill them.
