Can I charge my second 12v auto battery with an inverter and charger?

Update:

I have a separate 12v battery (Deep cycle) to power the lift gate on my truck. It is cumbersome to remove the battery and place on a small trickle charger at night.

Would it be possible to run my trickle charger in the truck, and plug it into a 300-400 watt inverter (powered by the cigarette lighter)?

First, most cigarette lighters are fused with a 8-10 amp fuse. At 12-volts, that's a maximum of 120 watts, so you're already overloading that circuit with a 300-400 watt inverter. Second you're taking DC voltage, converting it to AC (you lose 25% in the process) and then converting it back to DC. Why?

This is a bad idea all around
