What is the word, for the teachings of Jesus that were not written, called?

I guess "oral traditions", however I see no reference to any such thing in the Bible. This is the kind of thing that could quickly be twisted and totally misconstrued. But let's see what John said:

<<24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.

25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.>>

Teaching by word of mouth - preaching - oral expression

2Th 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

If they weren't written down, how could you possibly know about them? Are you 2000 years old?
