Why are baptisms in many churches scheduled for a later date when in the book of Acts believers were always baptized immediately?

Update:

None of the new converts in Acts ate, drank, or slept before being baptized.

Christians think they have to be baptized because of Mark 16:16:

"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not SHALL BE DAMNED."

The thing is, the oldest and most reliable copies of Mark ended at 16:8. the rest is a proven forgery from the 2nd century - no post-death appearance of Jesus, no 'ascension' and no 'damning' you for not being dunked in magic water.

its not wrong to be baptized by a scheduled date. imo. but, there is a debate that no christian church has any legal authority to baptize in the name of jesus altogether.

see Eph. ONE LORD, one faith, one baptism...

    Eph. 4: 5

Bible literalists have a nasty penchant for taking random connections first imagined in between too many beers and sleepless nights and forging them into cosmic laws they insist have never ever been broken or non-existent. Funny thing about that though, all the other Christians who belong to all the other sects generally just ignore the crazies and their silly invented rules.

  • Baptism replaced circumcision. Paul even says this in the bible. Circumcision was done 8 days after birth, that's why we baptize infants. Circumcision was done in anticipation of a person that was going to be raised Jewish. Baptism is an anticipation the person is going to be raised Christian

So Jesus was terribly late getting baptised then - how terrible of him - NOT!!!

People like you are why Christianity has been split into over 39,500 different denominations, sects and cults setting Christian against Christian and Christians against everyone else!

    God's work? Hardly!

It must be the Devil and the Antichrist working together to divide, conquer and destroy Christianity from the inside!

Baptism means death, death to the old. The churches of man are not dead to the old.
