What works better for colouring cakes, food colouring or gels?

    Gels are food coloring. DO you mean liquid as in drops or paste? Gels work better.

    food coloring comes in several different formulas! There is the liquid, the powder, the gels and the oil pastes. There is not one that is better than another for any one application. I happen to like the oil paste colors.

    Jello, if it is to color the cake itself, and food coloring for the icing works for me.
