Questions about getting ears pierced!?

Hi, I have a couple of general questions about getting my ear lobes pierced.

I am 15 years old and have never had anything pierced before but am wanting to get my lobes done. First of all I have my GCSE exams coming up quite soon and was wondering if I get it done it done around the time that I have them is it likely to cause me pain or discomfort during the exams as I don't want anything to effect my performance. How long would you say it takes for them to stop being sore?

Secondly, might sound really pathetic but I am quite nervous as have never had anything pierced before. I've had injections etc and I can handle those but don't know what to expect with ear lobes, I know everyone is different but what was your experience like if you have had yours done? I'll probably get it done with a needle. I also hear that it hurts the first time you change them? Is this true?

Thank you! :)

Hi! I'm 17 and I got my ears pierced for the first time last year. I was so nervous but for me it wasn't anything more painful than a hard pinch. After it's done it will feel a bit hot for a couple hours but the next day you should be fine as long as you clean it properly and take good care of it. When you change your earrings for the first time it does hurt a bit because they're so hard to pull out! Nothing to bad though.

As for the exams, I don't think you should worry at all about irritation/pain while you sit the tests. If you still feel pain after a few days then it could be infected. If this ever is the case for you make sure you go back to the piercer or see a doctor before it gets worse.

Hope I helped a bit! Have fun with your new piercings! I'm sure you'll love them, it's so worth it :)

I've had my ears pierced 5 times, I first got them done when I was around 10 years old. Most body piercers use a gun which pierces the ear very quickly, it'll be over and done with in two seconds and it's a quick pinch, the after feeling doesn't actually hurt, it just feels like your ear lobe is very warm/hot but will go down over a couple of hours. Aftercare is pretty basic, just wash with warm salt water as it's natural anti-bacterial. I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable to sleep with either! Keep the original studs in for around 6 weeks to promote the fresh hole to heal, when you take it out for the first time it'll be a little crusty but nothing alarming. Ears are definitely one of the easiest piercings in my opinion! You'll be absolutely fine and good luck with your GCSEs!

Hey, it really isn't bad at all, I recently got another piercing, as long as you keep it clean and it doesn't get infected it should be better in a few hours, the piercing itself doesn't really hurt, it's just a bit of shock and a tiny sting. And trust me it's worth it. Oh good luck with your GCSEs!

seriously you have nothing to worry about!! when i got mine done a few years ago i was absolutely terrified. yes, the needle does hurt a little bit but only for about 10 seconds- and it is so worth it!! as long as you are diligent about cleaning your earrings and hole (hahahahh) with the special spray for the first few weeks, you will have no problems and won't even notice that they're there :)) good luck xx
