  • Questions about earlobe piercings?

    Hellooo

I asked a similar question a few days ago but I have some more specific questions now haha.

I am 15 years old and wanting to get my ears pierced next month. I am completely new to piercings and this will be my first one so forgive me if my questions seem silly!

First of all I am a big wuss and am quite nervous about the pain, how would you rate the pain?

Secondly, how long after getting ears pierced do they hurt for? I ask this because I will be having exams the week after I get them pierced and am worried that my ears will be causing me pain during the exams and distracting me. Do they stop stinging/hurting after a few days?

Also, how long until the pain/soreness is completely gone and you can touch them without ANY sensitivity at all? (im just interested to know).

Finally, I use over-ear headphones a lot but I can imagine these will irritate my new ear piercings? I can use earphones in the healing process but how long do you think it will hurt my ears to wear over ear headphones. I guess its the same for sleeping; how long until you can sleep on the new piercing without pain?

Thank you for reading all of this, again sorry if the questions seem stupid just want to know everything haha!! :)

  • Questions about getting ears pierced!?

Hi, I have a couple of general questions about getting my ear lobes pierced.

I am 15 years old and have never had anything pierced before but am wanting to get my lobes done. First of all I have my GCSE exams coming up quite soon and was wondering if I get it done it done around the time that I have them is it likely to cause me pain or discomfort during the exams as I don't want anything to effect my performance. How long would you say it takes for them to stop being sore?

Secondly, might sound really pathetic but I am quite nervous as have never had anything pierced before. I've had injections etc and I can handle those but don't know what to expect with ear lobes, I know everyone is different but what was your experience like if you have had yours done? I'll probably get it done with a needle. I also hear that it hurts the first time you change them? Is this true?

    Thank you! :)

  • Question about inheritance money and wills?

    Hi

    I was just wondering what would happen under this circumstance, I have never really thought about it before and was curious;

I do not have any contact with my father, he is not connected to us at all, doesn t pay finances for us etc as far as he is concerned my sister and I are non existent to him. I do not know if he has written a will or not or if he ever would ( he was always very greedy with his money hence he left my mother with nothing). As it stands I believe he is currently with a woman and they have had a child together although I do not think they are married from what I ve heard. So my question is, having nothing to do with my father yet being his direct bloodline, would I automatically get an inheritance if he had not left a will, would I have to go to a solicitor to try and claim something, or would I just not get any money. Also if I did recieve some money, would that mean my sister would too and his other child he has had with his girlfriend?

  • Blurb ideas?

Hi, i need help coming up with a blurb. The genre is teen drama. In the story, it is reverse to conventional teen dramas and 'geek is chic'. Instead of all the stereotypical popular girls, being geek is now considered popular. Its kinda hard to explain but hopefully you understand what i mean! It will still include conventions such as boys, friends etc.

Anyway, i'm struggling to come up with a suitable blurb for this story. Can you help me!

The protagonist is a girl called Lara. I know it's vague but anything will be helpful haha, im having a mental block right now :p

    Thank you!

  • Maths help?

Firstly, please could you check my answers for this question, i'm not sure if they are correct:

The population of bacteria in a colony is increasing. The number of bacteria at a time (t) (in hours) is given by P=3000 x 1.15^t.

    a) by what percentage is the number of bacteria increasing each hour? (not sure about this one)

    b) What was size of population when t=0? i got 3000?

    c) what will the size of population be after 24 hours? I got 50502336.5?

I am also stuck on these-

The energy stored in a spring, elastic potential energy (p) is proportional to the square of its extension (e). When e=5 P=300

    a) Find an equation connecting P and e.

    b) Find the value of P when e = 3.5

    c) Find the value of e when P =507

    Thank you!!!!

  • Opinions from Brits living in USA?

Hey! At the moment we are in America with a visa and are not sure weather we will be staying or going back to UK. I'm currently in year 10 so within the next couple of years I'll be doing my GCSE's. My school has only given us a few weeks to hold open my places in the options I chose as they are filling up quickly so we have to decide soon if it is worth staying and doing schooling here.

If we do stay then I'll be doing online/home schooling and possibly taking electives at a high school.

I came here seeking opinions of fellow Brits living in USA etc as we are really torn on what to do. How did you get on with school? What are you doing now? Y'know? :)

Secondly, if anyone could answer this it would be great:

In the UK i was taking Media and music for 2 of my GCSE courses but if I were to be home or online schooled, I assume that I wouldn't be able to be taught that. So im basically wondering if there is any way of being able to get a "qualification" as such in media or music whilst being homeschooled or online schooled or would I have to go into high school to do that. Are there any electives you can take at all with home schooling?

Thanks! Sorry this is so long!

  • If I were to go to school in USA, would I still be able to get a job in the UK?

In England I am currently studying media and would like to work on sets as my career in the future. I do not know much about the USA schooling system but if i were to get a diploma (or whatever it is :D ) in media in USA would I still be in with the chance for the same job in the UK?

hope this makes sense haha, thank you.

  • Does USA have the equivalent of GCSE's?

In England we have GCSE's and I was wondering if America had the same thing just different name?

Also, We get to pick subjects to do in year 9, for example, 2 of the subjects I chose were music and media, does America do this also? I don't really understand how the school system works.

  • Questions about online schooling and home schooling?

I'm am English, currently living in America. We are considering getting me either home schooled or online schooled but I have just a few questions...

Obviously the school system is a lot different in the US to the UK. If I were to be home/online schooled, would I be able to be taught with the english system (GCSE, A level, etc) or would it have to be the American system? I don't know if this makes sense but it did in my head :D

Also, would I be able to pick my subjects like I would have in the UK? For example, if I were in school right now in the UK, I would be doing media as one of my chosen subjects for GCSE, would I be able to do this with home or online schooling?

Those are my main questions, but if you could tell me as much about home and online schooling as possible that would be great! Like the benefits of it or the drawbacks :)

    Thank you very much!

  • Moved to America but want to go back to Britain?

We moved to america but I really don't like it here and really want to go back home to England. Only problem is that i've missed about a month of school in the process of moving and i'm worried that if I go back to my old school now I would have missed loads and will find it really hard to settle back in.

I really can't see myself settling in over here but then I also can't see myself trying to settling back in back home either! I honestly wish we had never moved because then I wouldn't have to settle back in.

Any advice on what I should do?

  • Is the UK safe?

Im only 14 and don't really understand whats going on at the moment with war and things like that but I know that with the threat level being raised I'm very worried for my safety. If a terrorist attack does occur, would it be a mass thing of just a small bomb affecting only a small area? Is the UK safe and will we be able to fix this mess? Also, we are due to be moving to the USA next month to Indiana, is it safe there?

Im just so confused right now and am hoping our government has this all under control.

  • Software that allows you to overlay videos?

I am trying to overlap two videos so whilst one is playing another is faintly playing in the background (so you can see 2 videos at once).

Windows Movie Maker cannot do this, I have tried Serif which doesnt let me import videos and I was wondering if anyone knew of any FREE editing programmes that include this feature? :) Thank you!

  • Will I have to have anesthetic for a filling?

Hi! So i have got a permanent milk tooth as my adult tooth never grew in my mouth and my Dentist said I have a tiny cavity in the tooth and I should have it filled because I have to look after that tooth for the rest of my life since I wont be getting an adult tooth replacing it, otherwise she said she wouldn't have worried about filling it.

I assume it is quite a small cavity as she was willing to not fill it if I had an adult tooth to replace it and when I asked if I would have to have an injection or anything she said no unless it starts to hurt (which is great, i hate injections in my arm let alone mouth).

My question is, is the filling likely to cause me pain? I have had any fillings before without injections in milk teeth when I was young and don't remember any pain at all but looking it up on yahoo etc people are saying it's actually pretty painful?!

    Thank you!

  • question about mmr jab?

Ok basically, I recently found out I haven't had my 2nd MMR jab so I have to go have it soon. I know that usually you are supposed to have the 2nd jab a few months after the 1st so considering I had the first MMR jab when I was a baby (I am now 14), is there actually any point in having the second one?

Secondly, does it hurt and is it a big needle, I have a huge needle phobia :(

    Thanks!
