Depends on the kid. Some are better at safe eating - not taking huge bites, not talking with a mouth full of food, etc. If your kid is safe, then give them a hot dog. If they are still kind of distracted while eating, keep cutting it for awhile. Could be four years old for some kids, and six or seven for someone else.

My kids are 5 and 6 and eat whole hot dogs and have been for a couple years, I guess. But there are adults who have choked and died while eating hot dogs.

Three years of age until then keep cutting them and always keep ur eyes on kids when they eat hotdogs

When they are able to feed themselves, and when you know they won't bite off more than they can chew. And of course, when they have some teeth to actually chew the hot dog.
