The name of that anime film?
I can only remember brief details. The title sounded something like kee-doh-ma-ruu, but when i try googling a naruto character pops up (argh).
The synapsis of the film involved two childhood friends, one with the kee-doh-ma-ruu title that was rescued by a samurai when her village was attacked and raised as a tomboyish warrior. The other was a noblewoman who went insane after her its implied her uncle killed her family and took her prisoner. The noblewoman seems to have some sort of obsession over the former who's name sounded like ken-to-ki.

Could it be "Kai Doh Maru" (also spelled as "Kaidomaru")? I looked it up on google and I think the plot fits your description well.

i don't know about the film, but the Ken-to-ki name was sure as hell Kintoki, probably Sakata no kintoki? it's parto of some japanese legends, can't say much more :/
FORGET IT, searched for it on internet and the first coment was right! its the film Kaidomaru
