The defrost timer could be bad not allowing it to come out of defrost. You could have poor air circulation as well. Is the back of the fridge clean? Is the fridge too full not allowing the air to flow within its self? Is the fan running inside the fridge? Then you could have a leak in the refrigeration cycle causing the refrigerant to leak out. There are a number of things that can cause your fridge not to get cold. Could be a easy cheap fix or just cheaper to replace the whole thing with a new one.

My best guess is that the "timer" in your fridge/freezer is the problem. I recently replaced an almost 40-year old unit. I had only 3 service calls on it during its lifetime. All were because it was not cooling/freezing. All were because of a 'timer gone bad.' I think that the 'timer' is the weak link in the system! At least it was in my old fridge!

un plug the ref. for a day. Of course place all food in a ice chest. Then plug back in. If the defroster line is plugged it will get unplugged during this process. Be sure you do not put things over the vents in the freezer.

(( R&R )) remove and replace ____ you might try getting the local appliance shop to service the ice-box ...... most likely you need to buy a new refrigerator ... go shopping and do not settle for the 1st one you find === those big box stores will give you a mark-down if you ask the store manager ...... buy a name brand and settle on the warranty before you pay and BE SURE that anything the sales person tells you about a warranty is in writing .....

This is a sure sign it is dieing. Time to R&R the unit while it still keeps the food cool. When it does die it will take 2-3 days to get the replacement in place at least. We bought one at Lowe's and it took 5 days to get the replacement installed.

If the unit is old, consider the cost of an appliance person and the life left in the fridge against just getting a new more efficient one.

Time to think about a replacement. Any fridge that is over 10 years old and cannot maintain temperature is probably fixable but not cost effective.

The most basic a simple and most common problem is the loss of refrigerant gas.

ok, since cooling is the only thing a fridge does, this is what you would call a BROKEN refrigerator. your fridge is BROKEN and you need to call an APPLIANCE REPAIRMAN.

and just because you put a question mark after a statement, it doesn't magically make it a QUESTION.

Probably the compressor is shot or you have a Freon leak. Get an appliance repair person to check it.
