How to fix a ceiling fan that won't spin?
I could here the motor but it just doesn't spin. I tried to use a stick to spin it myself wishing it would start spinning but it doesn't work. The light turns on. I have two switches, one for the light and one of the fan. They work just fine.

Classic symptoms of a Bad Capacitor.
Drop the light kit. In the housing you will see a square/rectangular object with several wires. Take a picture of how it is connected. If the fan is less than a year old contact the manufacture. They may well send you another capacitor for free. If not, you should be able to get a replacement at a local building supply or hardware store.
I guarantee that is your problem.
I have replaced a dozen or so in my career including two in my own home.

I would simply buy a new fan. Repairs might cost you more than a new fan. You don't have to spend a fortune anymore to get a really nice looking fan and light.

unlike the others, I suggest that if you can hear the motor to the fan , and the blades won't turn, then it may just be time for a lubrication !! if you know how to do it, OK, but if not you have the options of having a repair shop look @ the fan and lubricate if needed or just replacing the whole unit.................that would be if the residence is owned and not rented

Sounds like the motor has went bad. For what it will cost to repair it you'd be better off replacing the ceiling fan

The fan motor is low speed and distance between the rotor and stator if wider than other electro motors ,so if dust get covered inside the motor then magnetic force will not be able to accelerate the motor .Simply re connect from the power and clean it ,plus use lubricant on the bearings or bushes of the motor then connect it and turn it on .

If the motor hums but doesn't move, I suspect you have a major problem with the motor. Perhaps a phase is open, or a capacitor is burned out. To fix it, you would spend more than your average fan is worth.

The switches work just fine because?
They click?
To check if a switch functions electrically, a voltmeter is necessary.
Somebody with mechanical skills needs to check the fan motor and mechanism.
