Is a bedroom locked door easy for a amateur to pick?

I had to install a key entry lock on my bedroom door when I discovered a nightmarish relative of mine living in the same house had been going into my room and taking things such as money, clothes and sleeping pills.

I had a feeling of relief knowing the door is locked, but then quickly became paranoid at the thought of her breaking into my room by picking the lock or using other methods to get the door unlocked. I don't think she has experience in picking locks, but is afraid she will learn how and will be able to do it.

A screwdriver, or any other thin long piece of metal, is all that is needed to get into a bedroom. Any low life is going to know this.

Interior doors, unless you are a wealthy person who can afford quality real wood doors and sturdy frames, are incredibly easy to break into. So easy, in fact, that I don't even consider them an obstacle.

    No Lockpick skills are needed.

My advice? Purchase a decent latch and a sturdy padlock. This won't necessarily stop them (depending on how bad they want in, and how secretive they are), but it will provide a solid obstacle that might deter them.

Locks are easy to pick, what's not so easy is when the person on the other side of the door is packing a ,9mm Glock or a 12 gauge shotgun. Food for thought.

Locks are easy to pick. These days you can install The Ring for $150. Which is your butler while you are away. Motion detection will automatically connect on your phone and you will see who is at your door. You can talk to them or just watch and call the police. You now have video evidence.
