Why can't God do things logically?
The only God is real, an atheist would say, is if he was to stop an asteroid with his hands and send it back to space. Why can't God logically push it away from its orbit to Earth (just an example, there are many other examples, but I decided to pick this one)?

Taylor, you are reported.
I would like to thank all of you with your wonderful answers. You have helped me see God and logistics in a whole new manner.

Well, in theory he has. God has seen the beginning and the end. He knew everything before it even came into existence, so that means as he made the earth, he already knew where every tornado, hurling space rock, or disobedient creation would be in full, yet he still had the gall to make the world as he did. Not only did he make it like he did, but he said that he saw it and it was good in his sight. So either he has some messed up vision, which I'm sure many would jump on the bandwagon to say, or that he knows logically something you don't. A chest grand master, a black belt, or a pingpong champion can all look like to a beginner player like they are going to lose, but in one swift motion, they are on top again without trying. This is what we see God doing all throughout scripture. He is not an idiot. He has done this for a reason, and it's up to you to decide whether you want to take the time to seek him and find out why he says he sent his son to die for you so you can be saved or you won't. That is your choice, but you know the consequences of that choice.

IF a series of rockets from NASA were launched to intercept and follow a near identical trajectory to the asteroid or even land on it and then use remaining fuel and thrusters to push the asteroid out of a dangerous flight path or slow it down enough so that it would be pulled directly into the sun or Jupiter's gravitational field to be destroyed ... by your logic, NASA would be god. But since such an action could be attributed to man and science you need to come up with something better.
Pick an example or scenario that would be impossible for man to accomplish that your god demonstrably could. For example, ending all human suffering without wiping out all life on the planet in 60 seconds, forever and for all time. You might get better traction that way.

God is the universe, or doesn't exist, as there's no way anything could exist in or around the universe without getting destroyed by an infinite number of big bangs and crunches. Thinking is done with brains, I think the universe has just always been there, moving like the tides do on earth, but it's the tides of gravity, and hot and cold energy.

Just take what God gives -- a living planet for us to manage and maintain, a Savior, and an assurance of heaven. If something isn't perfect, maybe there is a reason. Maybe it is a call for us to be creative and inventive. God's main concern as always is our afterlife. We have been hit many times by asteroids, and they have helped create the continents and species of today.

"Why can't God logically push it away from its orbit to Earth "
I suppose he could.. However, how would you know God did it??
And if there is a God.. why would he let the 1000's of asteroids that do hit the earth, hit it and kill his people??

You can't use logic to push things. There is nothing illogical about pushing an asteroid if you'd like to move it.

It appears just *the right size asteroid* hit the Earth and made most species of Dinosaurs into compost....about 66 million years ago...
Not too big -- that would have destroyed too much.
Not too small -- that wouldn't have destroyed enough....
But just right . And so the age of mammals then began in earnest.
A perfect hit, for us.
And because of that, here we are!
