What can I do to keep my mind focused on one story?
I have tried many different methods but I always end up adding two or three more stories.
This was for writing. Sorry about the confusion.

is this writing or reading?
If reading just find a story/series you really love, or maybe go back and re-read something that you already know you like.
If writing, just find an idea that you can't get out of your head, even if it's stupid.

The key is to reading the story on regular basis and reading it QUICKLY. If you read at a slow pace you'll soon lose interest in the book and would not always be thrilled by the events of the book and will start drifting to other books that catch your eye. However, you could also consider the genre of the book you're reading.Maybe the problem is not with your pace but that you're just not choosing the right books! If you're always for instance choosing from science fiction books and end up losing interest in them, then start reading Romance or Horror even--maybe sci-fi was never your thing!
