(Read Details) What kind of dvds needed for label printing?

There are a few different options.

One is called a "printable" or "print on" disc (how about that??).

This type requires that you have a computer printer made for printing on discs.

Several brands offer them.

Then there is "Lightscribe", which requires a special disc

and a special disc drive.

It uses the laser in the drive to do the labelling.

And there are special adhesive labels that you can print on

and then stick onto the discs.

I don't like this method because

nothing should Ever be attached to a disc,

no matter what the reason.

You have to get printable discs, and use a suitable printer. You can get DVD labels that adhere to the discs, but the end result tends to be unprofessional and there is always the risk of the label peeling while being played and damaging the player!

Some players are finicky when there is a label on them. It would skip or not play. Had that happened to me a few times. When the label was removed it played just fine. These were given to me. YMMV.

Recordable CDs and DVDs are available with a white surface that can be printed onto using an ink jet printer. You need the appropriate software and printer.
