Do sitting in the dark make your eyes worse?

My dad always says turn the lights on itll make your eyes bad but does it make a difference?

    Your eyes are made to adjust to the varying amount of light. Its been proven that the old wive's tale of sitting in the dark does not hurt your eyes.

    No. That's not true unless you are in the dark for weeks at a time.
