During the civil war, what was considered "The West Point of the Confederacy"?

I was curious because back then very well known confederate generals such as robert e lee came from USMA (which is where im also trying to get into). But i have been reading about the senior military colleges such as Virginia Military Institute and The Citadel, and they both have a rich history in the south.

So my question really is, what would of been the Confederate's Central/Main version of West Point?

Imo i believe the Citadel can take thatt place somewhat, but id like to hear others Input on it.

Virginia Military Institute - which is still in operation, by the way.

I always considered it to be VMI, but according to this article it was the University of Alabama.

VMI - Virginia Military Institute. But most of the South's greatest generals cam out of West Point. Especially Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and lesser generals Albert S Johnston, Joe Johnston, James Longstreet, etc. Though VMI did train many mid level generals & other officers.

Sorry to disagree with other answer, but VMI (Virginia Military Institute) was. Not only was it considered that in the Civil War (1861-65) but even in more modern times (there's a 1936 movie film titled that). Even today VMI is the only non West Point institution that accepts only military cadets no civilian students or degrees (the Citadel accepts both). VMI was known (and is) for being as strict or stricter and military professional as West Point some claim better.

During the Civil War....Virginia... was the preeminent state of the South, easily 50% of all the South's wealth and power, state of like 7 Presidents, SC was was way way smaller as was it's state 'Citadel' that later adopted the VMI title (of South West Point) to boost admissions.

Actually, many of the Souths best generals came from West Point. When the war started, its was with heavy hearts they went home and took up leadership positions in their own states. Lee was actually offered command of the northern armies, but his loyalty to his home state was stronger.
