If it is the truth, it never changes, like the Bible.

It is important to have basic empathy, which is really all that Jesus was trying to teach. He tried to stop them from stoning a woman to death for "adultery" and they didn't stone men to death, it was an unjust society, in many, many ways, and it took a long, long time for the world to get better. That's why we don't follow any law today but the Golden rule, do unto others which is the basis for all just laws.
