stress fracture or shin splints?
I had shin splints in both of my legs last year during track season, they went away during summer and fall. But now, I have this really bad pain in a specific part of my lower right shin. I don't know if i should go back to my doctor for an x ray. Is it a shin splint or a stress fracture?

Similar thing happened to me last year: shin splints at the beginning of spring track, and then similar pain at the end of cross country. Mine was shin splints again, and it could be shin splints, especially if you didn't change anything about your training (like shoes, intensity, hill workouts). If the pain is similar to before, that could also mean its shin splints. For stress fractures, you'll experience pain that's usually in the lower third part of the shin, tenderness or swelling in the specific injured area. Unlike shin splints, stress fractures hurt during regular activities (walking, climbing stairs, jumping). I would see a doctor just in case. Hope you feel better soon, not running sucks :(((((
