    Find a day that he is not mad - and that you can talk to him without arguing ... then ask him.

    If he won't tell you .... then he is either just agitated and mad naturally --- or he is mad at you for something.

    He probably means 'obeying' rather than 'listening'.

    He doesn't want to use this word, because it's not socially acceptable to use it anymore.
