I'm confused with George Pell sex abuse?

George Pell is a cardinal in the Roman Catholic church, so he would have entered the priesthood as a young man and he would have taken a vow of celibacy. The charges relate to sex with children, more likely boys. Details are being kept from the public in the interests of a fair trial.

Sex with an adult of either sex would be a breach of his vows of celibacy but not a crime in the Australian state of Victoria. Pell had admitted to previous mishandling of allegations of sexual abuse made about priests who were under his jurisdiction when he became a bishop. But he doesn't admit that he himself committed sexual abuse.

Gay men are only interested in other men, not in young boys. A sexual interest in prepubescent boys makes one a paedophile, which is a totally different category.
