Why does my can of lead pellets have a warning from the state of California?

On the bottom of the can it says This product has an ingredient known to the state of California to caused birth defects and cancer?

I do not live in California so does that mean I'm safe from cancer?

Because the politicians in California believe that everything should be mandated by law no matter how ridiculous.

    No you are not safe

California cares more for its citizens than your state.

No, it means your state has different warning label laws than California.

Well obviously you're still prone to it. Its just that the product was held up to the Californian health code and deemed some elements harmful, mainly the lead. Other states would likely agree, but the product hasn't been compared to their health codes.
