    Simplify

      x⁰·⁸

    --------

       x

    To divide exponents, subtract them

In this case, the subtraction is

      0.8 - 1.0

          - 0.2

       x⁰·⁸

    --------

        x

    x⁻⁰·²

    Answer

    x⁻⁰·²

You can write this without the negative exponent if you want.

Moving the term to the other side of the fraction bar reverses the sign of the exponent -- in this case, from negative to positive

    1 / x⁰·²

    = (x^0.8) / (x^1)

    = x^(0.8 - 1)

    = x^(-0.2)

    = 1 / x^0.2
