What would you tell this employee, and what actions would you take?

An employee approaches you and says her manager just told her to do a biological survey in a secluded area of Coyote Creek, alone. She tells you that the area is not easily accessible, is frequented by the homeless, and it's a high crime area with known gang activity occurring in the past.

The employee says that the decision makes her very nervous but that her manager told her that there is no one else available to go with her, and the survey needs to get done. The employee tells you that her manager told her to make sure she goes during full daylight hours and to check back in when she gets back. As a Safety Technician, what would you tell this employee, and what actions would you take?

    Biological??

An Environmental research project is a biological survey?

    Since when?

Just remember that no employer has the right to jeopardize the health, safety, or well being of an employee.

.I highly doubt that an employer would be that dumb to ask this...

Research in A secluded, high crime area, frequented by shady sorts was never in anyone's job description profile......barring the Police Force.

There are Employment Safety Standards in place.

Tell her to call the Labor Board..

She is within her rights to refuse

Tell her to explain her reasons in writing, not by E mail, should legal actions be necessary.

AND>> Keep excellent notes and copies of everything...Crucial..
