Stupid, that in America you can literally get away with the most heinous crimes, even murdering a pregnant woman and her unborn baby, and STILL get up for parole!

That people can be brainwashed with a combination of drugs and a warped philosophy of hate. Have we heeded any lessons we learned I would say not as there are many other cases of similar crimes since. with such cults as Heaven's gate, and David Koresh.

Teach and love your children well. Make people accountable for their actions. The significance of victim impact statements. Dangerous people should never see the light of day. From Mansion personally, only the fact that evil exists.

There is equality and race issues out there. Youth is sometimes caught up in rebellious acts, so it is important to better educate them and have the country stand for the right issues, and be open to dissension. If we don't raise our kids right, there will likely be others out there that will raise them in their own ways.

For the public, Manson became a cultural icon, an archetype of the evil psycho puppet master of cult followers--to join other figures in the public psyche like Hitler, as well as more attractive icons like Marilyn and Madonna and Elvis. In the collective unconscious each of these figures has their own significance. In terms of conscious learning that Americans as a people may have gained, I am not sure that ever happened. If they did learn lessons, it was probably as a result of the studies that were done by psychologists, criminal profilers, and other specialists who publicized their conclusions. It has been studied as an example of the cult phenomenon, for example, though that's something that hasn't gone away (Warren Jeffs?). I can't tell if you are simply curious or this relates to an assignment. If the latter, just look up articles and books by experts to get ideas.
