Which vehicle should I buy?

I am looking at buying either a 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 5.0 with 140k miles for $800 or a 1997 Nissan Maxima 3.0 v6 with 98,000 miles for $800 which do you think would be a better vehicle and what would you choose?

It all depends on if you want a car or a SUV. If you want a vehicle that gets good gas mileage get the car. If you want a strong and big vehicle get the SUV. I would get the SUV because I like sitting up higher off of the ground and I like the power and torque in Ford trucks and SUVS.

Nissan for sure. The Ford is on it's last legs.

Both are crap. You simply can’t buy a decent car for only $800.

SUV's usually have terrible mpg. Also, the Ford Explorer all around is a pretty awful car.

    Nissan Maxima.

90s Ford Explorer is garbage and dangerous (rolls over easily, bad brakes).

The mid to late 90s Sentras and Maximas were very reliable. Test drive the Maxima for 10 miles, stopping and restarting every mile, the last 3 miles on the freeway at freeway speeds. If it can make the 10 mile trip, it can make the next 10000 miles.

Buy what you can afford to pay for and maintain.
