What do you think of plans allowing Heathrow's 3rd runway to go ahead after Brexit and does private investment influence your view?

It's a stupid idea, and, the promised *private investment* rarely appears. It would be easier, cheaper and far more sensible to build a new hub, linking air, rail and road further north....

Investment has to be concentrated into the South East by the Tories. The Tories can't understand integrated transport, the fact that a High speed rail link is being built making it ideal to place an airport near that is totally beyond them - they probably plan on scrapping HS2 at some point though, when they've wasted enough money on nothing.

I don't understand why people living around Heathrow will have to suffer additional noise and air pollution, and even have their homes eradicated, when a new hub could be built somewhere more central, possibly in the Midlands, with good rail and motorway links. Neither do I understand why Heathrow needs to be used for freight at all.
