Can a minor be an associate to a non-profit corporation?

Technically they aren't an employee so what are the regulations on this? The story is I'm starting a nonprofit and Im 18 but my girlfriend isn't but I want her to be on my board of directors and she's really good at organizing so she can also serve as the secretary. What should I do?

Unless you have filed form 1023 with the IRS and jumped through a hundred other hoops, you do not have a nonprofit. You have a hobby.

    Nonprofits do have employees dear.

Approximately 10% of the US workforce is employed by nonprofits.

Paychecks. Health insurance. Workers comp. Vacations. Sick days.

    The whole nine yards.

You have no clue what you're doing.
