Feline pancreatitis.?

Update:

My vet wants me to get Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care with Chicken but it is too expensive. My vet said that Hill's Science Diet for adults 7-11+ is ok and the vet tech suggested to get Beyond Chicken but did not say which flavor?

The cat that was diagnosed with pancreatitis is 12 yrs old.

Any idea would help tremendously.

Thank you :)

I have a foster that has pancreatitis and they just put her on steroids. They said to feed her whatever she will eat. Shes better now. Maybe see if you can get her on steroids? They are cheap.

Vets 'recommend' what they get commission on selling and 99% of vets or vet staff are not qualified pet nutritionists...so it is like hiring a plumber when you want electrical work doing, you wouldn't do that.

The easier the food is to digest, the less work your cat's recovering digestive system will have to do. Most qualified nutionists would recommend canned food as opposed to dry kibble. Canned or wet food is much closer what a cat would experience in nature, which would be high in meat and protein....also you could feed fresh meat/fish cooked chicken, beef, lamb, poach fish, canned fish.

My recommendation would be for you to research yourself on food to feed the internet has lots of advice, just check it is a reliable website and not one that is sponsored by a pet food manufacturer or the opinion of someone who is not qualified
