Is LPN a good career choice? I want to some day become an RN but I am not the smartest. Is it a good idea to become an LPN before?

A lot of people bridge from LPN to BSN, not many people work as an LPN but you can do it

LPN or LVN tends to require an Associates degree or a certificate from a career college.
Once an LPN or LVN you can got to night school to work towards your BS degree in nursing. An RN needs to have a BS degree before being allowed to test the practicum tests. But you have a full time job the entire time you go to night school.
Good job in high demand with plenty of ability to advance by working smart and hard.

Hey there! I'm currently a nursing student and i also wasn't the smartest in high school but let me tell you being smart isn't everything. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication because this degree is tough in so many more ways than just academically. I believe if you have the passion and drive then you can succeed!
In my time as a nursing student, I've been advised to first work as a general RN before I specialise. I would recommend that you talk to nurses and do some job shadowing. That would help a lot.
Wishing you all the best!

An LPN is great! But if I were you I’d go become an RN, so after you further your knowledge you can get your Masters in nursing and become a NP! LPNs earn half of what RNs earn

Yes, you can make some great money as an LPN considering it only takes one year of schooling.

Why wouldn't it be? Becoming an LPN gets you the exposure in the medical field and the experience that is almost always necessary after you graduate from school.
