How many pounds of muscle can a male put on in one year?

    Depends. The first year of lifting if you follow a good routine and eat a proper diet you can potentially put on 10-25 pounds of muscle (assuming you are young. If you are older you wont be able to put on as much). Each year after that you put on progressively less.

    None.

    You do not put "on" muscle, You develop it.

    Over simplification would be to Commonly called conversion, fat to muscle, by exercising (using) the muscle group.

    You will actually lose weight (fat) while developing your muscles.

    "It's physically impossible. Fat simply can't “turn into” muscle and muscle can't turn into fat, and no amount of “clean eating,” fancy exercise routines, or pills or powders can change that. What you can do, though, is lose fat and gain muscle, producing the same end result."
