Is it illegal to be in possession of a bullet from a gun?

    This depends upon a bunch of circumstances. Age - are you 21 and over? Are you in a state that does not require you to show a handgun license to purchase? Are you a felon? What is the condition of the bullet - is it spent (just a lump of lead) or actual ammunition (ready to load and fire)?

    Generally it is not illegal to possess ammo, unless you are underage, a felon or in a state that expressly prohibits it without a license.
