True, and more to the point, the Catholic Church is the original, purest version of Christianity.

Since that's not the truth, it's a moot point.

The Christian Church founded at Pentecost was intact for 1000 years -- until the Great Schism of 1054. At that time there were five sees or seats of authority in the Christian Church: Antioch, Alexandria, Constantinople, Jerusalem, and Rome.

The Church split and the Christian Church of the West adopted the name "Catholic", with the bishop of Rome becoming the first Catholic pope. The Church of the East became the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church, with the four remaining Christian bishops continuing as authorities.

Well, which Catholic Bible would that be? The Catholic church has produced many different versions and, after they gave up the fight to keep it written in obscure Latin, they produced it in many different languages.

The original, pure Bible was the one written in ancient Hebrew and Koine Greek, from the end of the 1st century onwards used by all the new Christian congregations. Around 180 AD those scriptures began to be translated into Old Latin. Cyprian, bishop of Carthage, martyred in 258 AD, quotes abundantly from a Latin text which must have been a complete Bible, considering the rage of quotes. Around 300 the NT was translated into Syriac, the Old Syriac, and four Coptic versions (four dialects in Egypt). There were also early translations of the Scriptures in Armenian, Georgian, Ethiopic, Slavic and Gothic.

By 405 Jerome had translated the OT from Hebrew and the NT from Greek into Latin. It became known as the 'Latin Vulgate' translation as it was in the then popular and 'vulgar' Latin tongue of the people. It was translated from the original languages. It became the standard but gradually altered Bible of the Western church until the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s. Long before then, the Vulgate had been slowly adulterated due to ‘old’ and ‘new’ Latin being simultaneously in use, and various ‘merged’ texts were formed according to the judgment of scribes. Problems of translation increased over the 1,000 years leading to the Reformation. The Reformers understood the need to get back to the original language manuscripts from which to produce modern language translations. They used Catholic humanist scholar Erasmus's first printed Greek New Testament. The Western church insisted on sticking only to their Latin Vulgate version even though Latin was virtually 'dead' as far as the populace was concerned. The Rheims NT of 1582 and the OT version printed at Douai in 1609 (the whole thing altered and modernised by Bishop Challoner in 1749) was the English translation of the Vulgate in use for the next 200 years.

Most Greek scholarship and literature, including many biblical texts, had been in Byzantium (subsequently Constantinople, now Istanbul) and so 'lost' to the West for some time. The problem during the Dark Ages was that of translations being made from the Latin translation, not the original Bible languages. However, events conspired to enable going back to the original languages when Byzantium fell to the Ottomans in 1453. Scholars fled to Italy and koine Greek became known about in the West, with a renaissance of discovery of the Greek learning and texts of old. Paper was produced in the West, and the printing press (China had already done that, as an aside.) Guttenberg used moveable metal type to print the 'editio princeps' of the Latin Bible in 1453, but already scholars were rediscovering the original language manuscripts and translating directly from them at huge risk to themselves.

Out of a mass of manuscript data came the Received Text, used by the Reformers, and which did not change from between 1530 to 1880. That's 350 years of stability from which came the Authorised Version of 1611. You could take the Stephens text of 1550 and find it to be almost exactly the same as the Scrivener text of 1880. So, what do you mean by "the Catholic Bible" when the original, purest Bible was the one written in ancient Hebrew and Koine Greek, from the end of the 1st century onwards? Some people don't realize. Athanasius of Alexandria wasn't a Roman Catholic, and he was supposed to be the first Christian to make a list of what he thought was scripture in the way we see it today. So I think you might want to read some history. He didn't need a Roman Catholic synod to tell him.

They don't know, they have not been taught pure worship via tradition and the bible. I spent 22 years in the Jehovah's Witness cult, 10 or so as a protestant and a few as an atheist/agnostic.

I did not even begin to understand the bible and the church, with all of it's tradition until I went through Orthodox Catechesis and got confirmed and baptized as an Orthodox Christian.

Having been a cult member and a protestant, I have full knowledge of the gaps in sola scruptura and the absence of the original Church in todays "christian" religions. It is all so incomplete.

The church has the writings of Polycarp who was the student of John the Apostle, the line of teaching and tradition along with scripture is unbroken through the Church.

The Bible canon was set long before the Catholic church was formed.

According to modern Bible scholars such as Goodspeed, collecting of the letters of Paul began before the year A.D. 100, and in a few more decades the four Gospels were also being circulated as a group. Six of the ten ancient catalogues dating long before A.D. 397 list the same canon as we have today, and early in the third century, or some 175 years before A.D. 397, Origen gave the same canon in his Hexapla (six Bible versions in one). So, in view of the fact that there was general agreement on what constituted the Bible canon long before the year A.D. 397, and in view of the Catholic Church’s adding seven apocryphal books thereto, it is clear that she cannot lay claim to being the “Mother” of the Bible.

Books have been removed from EVERY bible. The biblical cobblers didn't like the tone of some of them so, voila' !! ... they are gone. "Purest version", ha, what a laugh.

The oldest fragments, the Bodmer and Beatty Papyri and Papyrus 52, date back to the second century but only contain bits of the Gospel of John. All of these texts are Greek.

Jesus's native tongue was Aramaic, and even if he knew Greek, he certainly did not speak it to his apostles, many of whom were uneducated fishermen. Without any surviving Aramaic texts, the actual words of christ are lost forever, mired in a sea of subjective translation by ancient scribes.

There are three hundred years between the composition of a text and our surviving copies. In a world without a printing press, texts would often undergo drastic evolution through centuries of handwritten duplication.

Our four canonical gospels did not begin their lives as the gospels of "Matthew," "Mark," "Luke" and "John." Different groups of early Christians maintained their own oral traditions of Jesus's wisdom, as writing was a specialized skill and not every fellowship enjoyed the services of a scribe. When written accounts of Jesus's teachings began to circulate (i.e., the theoretical "sayings" gospel Q and the Semeia or Signs source), the independent groups WOULD SUPPLEMENT THEM WITH THEIR OWN TRADITIONS about the savior, each believing their own versions to be "the Gospel." Eventually, as these expanded writings spread through other communities, some versions were viewed as having more authority than others. It was not until the pronouncement of Bishop Irenus (185 C.E.) that Christians began to accept only the four familiar gospels as authoritative, and to refer to them by their modern titles.

The rest of the canon was much slower to develop. For the next two centuries, the four gospels would be coupled with a myriad of different letters, epistles, stories and apocalypses, according to what a particular congregation JUDGED AS RELEVANT TO THEIR UNDERSTANDING of Jesus Christ and his message. Catholicism was only one of the dozens of "denominations" within the early church—Gnosticism was prevalent throughout Egypt, Montanism in Asia Minor, Marcionism in Syria.

Eventually, the Catholic church was adopted as the state religion of the Roman Empire, and all other systems of belief were branded as heresies. Following the Epistle of Athanasius in 367 C.E., the Church finally reached agreement upon which writings were truly authentic and representative of apostolic tradition, thus forming what we know today as the canonical New Testament. Although factions of the Church continued to debate the merits of various books for centuries, and many even used other writings in their liturgy, most uncanonical writings were ordered to be destroyed. In many cases, possession of heretical literature was punishable by death.”

Catholicism's "bible" is not the Word of God. It is a satanic counterfeit written by unbelievers. The true Bible only has 66 books.

The Old Testament Jews, in charge of the canon, refused those "extra" books due to God's leadership. Catholicism added them because catholicism is comprised of unbelievers.

Jesus is not in catholicism or orthodox. Reading the Bible proves to us that catholicism and orthodox are lies.. Catholicism and orthodox teach works for salvation, which leads to eternal torment in the lake of fire (Galatians 1:6-9). Catholicism and orthodox didn't even exist for over 300 years after the Bible was complete and compiled. So avoid catholicism and orthodox, get away from them both.

The truth is that Jesus loves you and wants to bless your life freely :) Most of all, Jesus wants you with Him forever, and not in hell. The truth is that every belief except one will lead to eternal torment in the lake of fire for every person. Because nothing pays for our sins except the death and blood of Jesus, the sacrifice of Jesus that is already accomplished by Him . Jesus loves you! The truth is that Jesus is God, and Jesus died on the cross to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead. Nothing else pays for our sins, not works, not deeds, not religions. So the only way to heaven and to avoid hell, is by believing in Jesus for eternal life (John 6:47), without adding any of your own works (Romans 4:5). Believe in Jesus to take you to heaven, and you will be in heaven, no matter what, guaranteed. That easy, thanks to Jesus! Tell Jesus that you thank Him that you will be with Him in heaven when you die, because you believe in Jesus! It is too late to be saved, after death.

The Catholics do not have the truth, they do not worship God in spirit and truth, Catholics violate God's word.
