Could Trump Turn the USA Into A Dictatorship?

I'm not some crazy SJW overreacting to my dislike of Trump. I am simply seeing parallels between recent events and the events that ultimately made Hitler a dictator.

When the German Parliament was set on fire in 1933, Hitler used it as an excuse to suspend freedom of speech, press, and political assembly, and declared that all communists were enemies of the state.

Meanwhile, in 2019. Trump declared a "National Emergency" because Congress doesn't want to fund his border wall and is saying that the Democrats are to blame for all the country's problems.

Do you think it's possible that Trump will end up turning the US into a dictatorship?

The US is already a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. 91% of the time elections in the US are won by the person who raised the most money. Among that 9% who don't, the majority the times these candidates still raised an enormous amount of money. See Trump's victory over Clinton, where he did raise less money, but it was still roughly a billion dollars.

If you can't win an election without enormous amounts of cash, then cash inherently "selects" viable candidates. This means voters really only have the option to vote on candidates pre-selected by money. You can vote for candidates who raised no money, but it will always be a wasted vote. The only viable candidates are the ones pre-approved of by the bourgeoisie.

The bourgeoisie also controls the media. 90% of all media in the US, including local news, is owned by the six mega corporations. They don't just select the candidates in elections but they also control public opinion through the media.

If you think you live in a democracy... you're delusional. There's no way a government for, by, and of the people would have an 18% approval rating. A recent Princeton study entitled "Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens" found that, "Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organised groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on US government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence."

i.e. Congress votes on things that benefit moneyed interests and there is little correlation between public opinion and how Congress votes.

That is clearly what he is trying to do It's up to the other two branches of government and the American people to stop him.

Those parallels are brought up by the opposing side on both sides for at least back to Clinton. Sorry, but people who even consider this are ignorant of history, the present, and likely get their news from memes.

Do a search on how many past Presidents have used National Emergencies. The use is not new. It latest one has nothing to do with freedom of speech, press, or political assembly. How would it even cross your mind that one + one = an orange?

Maybe the government will get something done for once if it does happen.

Are you kidding me. Trump would never do that. You really need to read about the Democrats party. Conservatives can't speak at a liberal college someone might get offended.

Anything is possible, and of all Presidents Trump seems to find Constitutional constraints more irksome than most, so he could do it.

The failure of Democracy in the United States could transform the United States into a dictatorship speaking more broadly. Trump is just a symptom of what’s been happening.
