-Most of the alpha particles passed straight through the sheet, suggesting the atom is mostly empty space
-Some of the alpha particles were deflected by small angles, suggesting a positive charge was repelling them
-Very few of the alpha particles were deflected by angles of more than 180 degrees suggesting a very small concentrated mass in the centre of the atom.
These observations together lead to the idea that the atom contains a solid, positive and mass-y centre they called the nucleus, and rejected the plum pudding model which could not explain the particles rebounding
