How much space has to be between the back of the car and the edge of a sidewalk when parking in your own driveway in Los Angeles?

Update:

My friend parked in his driveway, but got a ticket.

There is more space between the back his car and the edge of the sidewalk than there is between a nearby planter and the edge of the sidewalk.

Update 2:

He was parked in his driveway, and the ticket is for being too far out and blocking the sidewalk.

He got it overnight, at the same time that one of his neighbors from a few houses down got a ticked for parking lengthwise on the sidewalk. (That one deserved it) There were several houses between them, so there was no confusion that they would be linked.

Most places it's out of the right of way which varies everywhere. You'd need to look at a survey to see where it is. However, as long as you aren't blocking the sidewalk, no one cares.

Usually, you must not block any tiny portion of the sidewalk. Btw, it might help to know what the violation was. Then you can look up the specific ific ordinance,

The specific neighborhood matters for such rules. Are you sure the ticket exactly WHERE he was parked? I would have guessed it had something to do with an issue about the car itself.
